UK’s attorney general called Trump an ‘orange tyrant’

[IMPORTANT: Make this 4 times longer with much more detail]

LONDON — Keir Starmer’s top legal adviser once branded Donald Trump an “orange tyrant,” in the latest awkward comments to be unearthed from Britain’s Labour government. The Times reported Thursday morning that Attorney General Richard Hermer used a podcast before starting his government job to take aim at Trump and accuse him of running a government of “chaos and hatred.” Speaking on the Matrix Chambers podcast Hermer, who sits in the U.K.’s House of Lords, said Trump was “such a coward” and an “autocratic populist.” Advertisement After the 2020 presidential election, Hermer said: “When it comes to the Trump versus Biden election, we are anything but neutral … thus it is a huge relief to start this podcast by saying out loud, Biden won. “And you know what? It’s even more pleasure to say out loud [that] Trump lost.” Starmer, who heads up a center-left administration, has been at pains to build bridges with the U.S. president, despite a host of potential flashpoints and historic attacks on Trump by some of his ministers. Trump praised Starmer last month for doing a “very good job thus far” and said the pair have a “very good relationship.” The two leaders have spoken regularly and met for the first time last September for dinner.
