When it comes to revamping a team, the BC Lions know how to make a splash. Recently, they announced the signing of two promising American players – offensive lineman Tyran Hunt and wide receiver Juwan Manigo. These signings have generated quite a buzz among fans and analysts alike.
Let’s start with Tyran Hunt, who stands an impressive six-foot-seven and weighs in at 315 pounds. His journey to joining the Lions began with a remarkable 2024 season with the Indoor Football League Frisco Fighters. Not only did he dominate on the field, but he also earned a coveted spot on the IFL All-Rookie Team. It’s no surprise that his skills caught the eye of many in the football world.
General manager Ryan Rigmaiden expressed his excitement about adding Tyran to the roster, stating,
“Tyran is a massive offensive lineman that has the skill set and attitude we’re looking for.”
He went on to highlight how former Arena players have been instrumental in the team’s success, setting high expectations for Tyran as he gears up for training camp.
But before his time with Frisco Fighters, Tyran had already made waves in football. Starting his professional career with the United Football League San Antonio Brahmas in 2023, he laid down a solid foundation for what was yet to come. And let’s not forget his college days where he showcased his talent at Maryland before transferring to Old Dominion and making significant contributions as left guard.
Now shifting our focus to Juwan Manigo – standing at five-foot-seven and weighing 175 pounds – this dynamic player brings speed and versatility to the Lions’ lineup. His recent stint with United Football League Arlington Renegades saw him excel in kickoff returns, finishing second in yards while amassing an impressive total of all-purpose yards.
Affectionately known as ‘Sonic,’ Juwan made headlines during his time with Caudillos of LFA in Mexico by setting league records in various categories back in 2023. With nine receiving touchdowns, five majors on returns, and over 2,000 all-purpose yards under his belt that season alone, it’s clear why he’s viewed as a game-changer on the field.
Rigmaiden further emphasized Juwan’s unique skill set by stating:
“Juwan’s speed makes him special as a returner and a receiver.”
The anticipation is palpable as he prepares to showcase his talents alongside his new teammates.
As these two talented individuals gear up for their next chapter with the BC Lions, fans are eagerly awaiting their debut on the field. The potential they bring not only adds depth to the team but also injects fresh energy into an already formidable lineup.
With training camp just around the corner, all eyes will be on Tyran Hunt and Juwan Manigo as they aim to make their mark and carve out successful careers within Canadian football. Stay tuned for what promises to be an exciting journey ahead!
